We aspire to keep our planet healthy

    THE ENVIRONMENT
    THE ENVIRONMENT

We conserve resources and use them wisely. There is always room to improve and we’ll continue to do so. Both to keep costs low and to keep our planet healthy.

We conduct our business online, delivering primarily digital products and services.

Two decades ago, we transformed a chemical and paper-heavy photography industry into a digital search, purchase and download model. Leading the way in digital search meant we could stop printing paper catalogs, which consumed paper, inks and printing energy, not to mention the shipping of these massive books. Or the need to create millions of film transparencies which used to be housed near each of our offices. And shipped back and forth to customers to make their selections.

At the time, our primary goal was driving down costs and speeding our products to our customers; however, reductions in use of chemicals, paper, printing, and shipping/transportation were environmentally beneficial outcomes for the entire industry as all competitors followed our digital lead.

    Clean Offices
    Clean Offices

With nearly 2,000 employees in more than 20 offices worldwide, we are adopting environmental best practices in many Getty Images office locations. Some offices are further along than others due to building owners’ recycling policies, and local government requirements. Getty Images increasingly locates our offices in LEED-certified buildings, recycling office waste, connecting employees by video conference to eliminate unnecessary travel, encouraging employees’ use of public transit and other alternatives to reduce the number of commuter miles driven.

    Clean Digital Operations
    Clean Digital Operations

Our Technology Services group drives wise energy use in our data centers and digital environments:

    • Efficient Data Centers: Working with green-certified data center partners, we are consolidating data storage facilities to minimize footprint and use energy resources more efficiently. Our primary Data Center facility utilizes a very Green mix of energy generation technologies, 92.3% of which are renewable in nature. Additionally, our data center providers are actively upgrading the cooling systems to increase efficiency and minimize power usage.
    • Digital Environments: We’re also driving innovation through intelligent energy use in our digital environments which extend far beyond our customer sites. This includes our environments used for development, testing production staging and geo fault tolerant sites. Here, we are moving from ‘always running’ to more dynamic, on-demand provisioning and de-provisioning, based on real-time need, using innovative cloud and automation solutions in these environments.
    • Operationally, we’ve moved from paper invoicing and payments for customers and vendors, as well as to paperless royalty reports and payments to photographers. Employee records are now digital and our payments to them are increasingly paperless, too.

We nurture an inclusive, diverse and positive workplace. See how we hire and how our culture encourages us to work together in the most effective ways.

Our large and diverse group of employees participate in a vast array of causes and community projects across the globe. Getty Images amplifies employee’s personal charitable giving with matching funds.

    Volunteer Day
    Volunteer Day

We love it when our employees get involved in their local community. That’s why we give every full-time Getty Images employee a paid day to volunteer with the charity of their choice every year. And we partner with CatchAFire to offer skills-based volunteering opportunities for employees based anywhere.

    Office giving Initiatives
    Office giving Initiatives

Each Getty Images office has its own personality. And favorite causes. Most offices have employee-driven efforts throughout the year to raise funds or contribute goods to support them. Getty Images empowers employees to go for it, for any cause they want to champion.

    Emergency Support
    Emergency Support

In addition to excellent benefits, employees who experience extraordinary hardship or an acute emergency, can apply for rapid aid in the form of emergency cash grants. The Getty Images Employee Emergency Fund was established after Hurricane Sandy showed us that no matter how great one’s benefits and insurance, there are times when access to emergency shelter, funds and support may be required. So far, the GIEEF has distributed employee grants for disaster assistance, to provide escape from domestic violence, expenses related to an unexpected adoption to save children’s lives, and to cover expenses when a family experienced a terminal illness. This public charity accepts donations from anyone through PayPal at GIEEF@gettyimages.com. Questions? Contact giving@gettyimages.com.

    Ecofriendly offices

With nearly 2,000 employees in more than 20 offices worldwide, we have a truly global presence. That’s why environmental best practices are in effect in many Getty Images offices. We increasingly locate our offices in LEED-certified buildings, recycle office waste, eliminate unnecessary travel through teleconferencing and more.

    Ethical Marketplace
    Ethical Marketplace

We believe in ethical distribution practices. Our digital content products and services do not involve the usual CSR reporting issues around packaging, manufacturing supply chains and human rights for affiliated suppliers and workers. That said, we strive to treat all people, with respect. We know that what we do matters in the world, and that our images are trusted only so long as we hold ourselves to high ethical standards. In addition, we provide customers who use our content within our license terms, with protection from associated claims. Contact us with any questions community@gettyimages.com.

    Living the leadership principles
    Living the leadership principles

Our employee leadership principles guide not only what we do, but how we work together to move the world with images. These principles define the kind of company we aim to be and form the cornerstone of everything we do:

    • Be Trustworthy, Transparent and Open. Be authentic; insist on honesty and integrity.
    • Raise the Bar. Be bold; strive for excellence; don’t settle for less.
    • Lead by Example. Live our values.
    • One Voice. After we decide, we act as one
    • Bring Solutions. Always propose a solution; have a point of view.
    • No silos. We are one global company; one Getty Images and not a function, a team or a region.
    • Obligation to Care. We care about each other and this business. Be kind, supportive and generous.

Our employees are also trained in business conduct and ethics, in anti-harassment policy, and know when and how to blow a whistle if they see activity which is not in keeping with our values. We are proud that our culture shines with purpose, optimism, grit and focus to bring our best to Getty Images, every day.
